In E.care a dossier is created for each patient. The data therefor are provided by the HIS (TPMS).

For about 80% of the visits the application of medication comes before the prescription: medication is taken out of the cabinet, entered in E.care ED after which the application is documented. In all other cases, a prescription is entered in E.care ED, after which medication is taken out of the cabinet and the application is confirmed in E.care ED.

Because the dossier is closed in E.care ED, a message is sent to the accounting programm (Infohos).

Simplification by integration

Since May 2014 this workflow is much less complicated and double registration is avoided. By taking medication out of the Omnicell Medication Cabinet, automatically this medication is prepared in E.care ED. After that only the application needs to be confirmed. Also the other way around leads a prescription in E.care ED to automatic preparation of the medication in the cabinet.

The application leads to a confirmation message to the cabinet which means also the accounting programm of Infohos can be provided with the correct information. Also to put back medication which was not used, a similar workflow was defined to make sure inventory management is kept perfectly uptodate and accounting can be done correctly.

A nice example of intelligent integration of which health care providers, administration and the hospital benefit.
